Civilian honours
In 1990
Haasan was honoured with a Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour
awarded by the Government of India,[13] for his contributions to the Indian
film industry. He was the first recipient of Abraham Kovoor Award, which is
awarded to Philanthropists.
